Position Title:   Integrated Day Charter School Director 

The Position:  IDCS is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as Director of the Integrated Day Charter School. This is a 12 month professional position effective July 1, 2018. The Director is responsible for implementing the mission and vision as articulated in the Charter.

The Integrated Day Charter School (IDCS) is a state chartered, Pre-K to 8, self-governing, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The School:  The underlying philosophy of the program recognizes that to be actively involved and truly engaged, a learner must have input into both the content of learning and the process by which the knowledge is acquired.  Specific areas of concentration include academic excellence, arts integration, differentiated instruction, individual student research, teaching a critical curriculum, social curriculum, multi-age grouping, personal goal setting, assessment, service learning, parental involvement and a sense of community.  
Duties and 
The IDCS Director is first and foremost the school’s primary instructional leader and is responsible for nurturing an innovative, collaborative and supportive learning community for students, staff, and parents. Additionally, the IDCS Director has the responsibility to:
  • manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the school including but not limited to the supervision, training and evaluation of the staff
  • efficiently manage the operation of the physical plant
  • establish and maintain budgetary and fiscal controls and the proper administration of records as required by local, state and federal requirements
  • actively promote the IDCS Mission and Vision ensuring that it is reflected in all school policies, procedures and practices.

The IDCS Director works under the direction of the IDCS Governing Board. This position is comparable to principal and superintendent of a standalone public school.  

Qualifications: Education: A Connecticut Intermediate Administrator’s Certificate (092)
Experience: Five or more years PK-8 teaching experience.  At least four years in a leadership role in a school environment including two years of supervisory experience or a combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Prior administrative experience is preferred.
